Thanks to la Madre, la Madonna, and mujeres around the world, we exist and have plenty of artistic inspiration. And this summer, we have a chance to celebrate all three at Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center (ALAC).
The Downtown art space, studio, and gallery is hosting its second annual Latina Art Exhibit, “Madres/Madonnas/Mujeres,” as a cross-culture look at women and mothers.
The exhibition features paintings, mixed-media, and jewelry by female artists from Phoenix, Tucson, and Chicago including Francesca Anatra, Diana Caldreron, Christina Cardenas, Francisca Cota, Monica Crespo, Esperanza Gama, Cynthia Flores-Gurrola, Diana Luevano-Ruiz, Yolanda Palomo, Mary Ann Rodriguez-Veatch, Gabby St. Paul, Ilda Veloz, and Veronica Verdugo-Lomeli.
The space’s three galleries will be home to a group show and two separate one-woman shows all open through Friday, August 24. Admission is free, and the gallery is open today from noon to 7 p.m..
