Rather than rendering silly the oohs and aahs magic can inspire, his statements bolstered our respect for the badasses who can blow minds with sleight of hand — like The Carnival of Illusion, which swings through Saturday.

Roland Sarlot and Susan Eyed are the hands and minds behind the show that has garnered acclaim all across the nation. Combining old school work ethic with an intimate and fun performance that echoes the days of Vaudeville, the Tucson-based duo conjures up the kind of mystery that brings an audience together in awe. If that’s not magic, we’d argue that nothing is.
