Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Save your Halloween costumes and start gathering materials. You’ll need both for the Phoenix Annual Parade of the Arts on Saturday, November 10.
Organized by a small group (and attended by hundreds of art fans and community members), the funky event is a celebration of creativity and a competition in float building, costume making, and bike decorating. This year’s theme, “Legend City,” comes from the long-gone iconic Phoenix theme park — and from the legends and stories Phoenicians want to share.
The parade includes a walk of locally made floats and costumed participants through downtown and the arts district with a grand return to its starting point: the A.R.T.S. Market, 408 East Roosevelt Street. The celebration includes live performances by local bands, awards for best costumes, floats, and bikes, and plenty of great people-watching.
