The season isn’t over, but it’s looking like the Phoenix Suns aren’t going to repeat the deep playoff run they made last season. Without Amar’e Stoudemire – and with Steve Nash and Grant Hill each another year older – the Suns have spent the bulk of the season looking exactly like their record: average. In spite of that, the Los Angeles Lakers always seem to bring out the best in the Suns, who outran L.A. en route to a 121-116 win last November.

If playing their hated rivals is what it takes to bring out the Suns’ A game, then tonight’s tussle at US Airways Center, 201 East Jefferson Street, should be a good one. The Kobe Bryant-led Lakers will be coming to Phoenix looking to avenge last November’s loss, and the hometowners will need to play a great game just to keep it close. If past history can be trusted, that’s exactly what will happen.
