Some people have already tired of working at home alone in their jammies, hence the multidisciplinary, social, ineffably vibrant trend of “co-working.” People who’ve never met congregate in places they don’t have to be, check out projects they’ve never heard of, and share skills and ideas they might otherwise never stumble upon. A loose Valley network called Gangplank is a champion of the practice, and Gangplank Avondale’s co-working space hosts an assortment of regular events that help tech, arts, and other business types blend their brains into an innovative entrepreneurial salad.
But GA’s sorta-monthly StoryRise sessions, a flavor of fringe theater, are also a way for the curious to drop in and observe the kind of mojo that Gangplank attracts and generates. From noon to 1 p.m. on Friday, August 31, a free adults-only brown-bag, “Stories of the Journey,” features three storytellers weaving world folktales about the nature of success and setbacks, the meaning of destination, metaphorical meanderings, and other trippy stuff.
