It’s really quite elementary. There are those who adore the original Sherlock Holmes, that brainy crime solver of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s novels, and those who prefer the witty and verbose Robert Downey Jr. version from the movies. Then there’s Sherlock, the popular BBC series entering its second season, shown locally on PBS 8. And what’s not to like? Set in 21st-century London, Holmes and Watson solve the most perplexing of mysteries using modern scientific wizardry. The pair even contends with a tech-savvy villain who seeks world domation. The fun is obvious, but the strong acting, snappy dialogue, and modern themes make it must-see TV.
Curious? Sneak down to Civic Space Park for a free sneak preview of A Scandal in Belgravia. Presented by the Poisoned Pen bookstore, the event also includes Sherlockian games and discussion.
