Today is Local News Day
A national day of action to support and celebrate the trusted local journalism that strengthens communities. If you believe local news matters — this is the day to show your support. Make a contribution today to help keep our reporting free and accessible to all.
It’s called the Melrose Crawl, but it’s neither a groovy new dance nor a limb affliction. It is, instead, a monthly evening of nighttime shopping in downtown’s most vintage-centric district: Seventh Avenue between Camelback and Indian School roads.
Some wise marketing soul nicknamed this strip of land “Melrose,” and now, on the third Thursday of each month, one can walk (or, apparently, crawl) up and down this one-mile stretch in search of great old things in the area’s antique and vintage shops.
Check out Go-Kat-Go’s new Melrose location at 4314 North Seventh Avenue, where Tiki is god and funky furniture is everywhere. And don’t miss Hollywood Regency, 708 West Montecito, which has recently expanded its vintage-wear collection into a giant back-room boutique of couture. Afterward, drop in at Copper Star Coffee, 4220 North Seventh Avenue, to ogle what your pals found and to show off your new acquisitions.
Seriously. Get crawling.
