While some Arizonans’ exposure to Vietnamese culture is limited to slurping pho at the nearest Saigon-style eatery, there are actually a wealth of cultural establishments and events that have been imported from the Southeastern Asian nation to the Valley.

This weekend’s Viet Lifestyles Top Model Contest and Concert at Wild Horse Pass Hotel and Casino, 5040 Wild Horse Pass Boulevard in Chandler, is perfect example of such. More than a dozen local women and men of Vietnamese descent will to go head-to-head on Saturday, July 9, during the beauty competition and model search to determine who will represent Arizona in the magazine and at future fashion shows and events.

Vietnamese vocalists and entertainers will also perform at the event, which starts at 8 p.m.

Sat., July 9, 8 p.m., 2011
