$10,000

Remember back in high school when you saved your tips from waiting tables to buy your mom some lousy refrigerated bouquet thinking, “This is way classier than a macaroni necklace?”

You’re a big kid now, so make those pitiful childhood gifts up to her by splurging $75-$80 on a classy Mother’s Day Jazz Brunch at Desert Botanical Gardens. You and the woman who made you possible can brunch it up with banana-stuffed French toast, pan frittatas and powdered sugar-coated beignets. Phoenix songstresses Margo Reed, Nancy Gee, Delphine Cortez, and Sherry Roberson will entertain, along with handsome-voiced Harold “HB” Branch, founder of HomeBase Poetry (one of the largest open mic poetry sets in the country), who’s slated to spit a few rhymes that honor mothers. Maybe if you’re lucky — or unlucky — yours will wear that infamous macaroni necklace.
