The Phoenix Suns are missing a lot this season. Without Steve Nash, the Suns don’t have a proven playmaker. Without Grant Hill, the Suns don’t have a defensive leader. And without a highly-touted rookie, the Suns don’t have much to keep fans excited. Just about the only thing the Suns have in abundance is bulletin-board material: Virtually every major publication has the Suns pegged to finish near the bottom of the Western Conference.
This is why we’re interested in Friday’s showdown with the execrable Detroit Pistons. We want to see if the Suns are truly as bad as advertised. If the Suns can’t win at US Airways Center, 201 East Jefferson, against the Pistons — a team that won a sad total of seven games on the road last season — we’ll know that it’s going to be a bad year for Suns fans.
