Local love just got a lot deeper thanks to Native Now. The festival, which focuses on the indigenous cultures of the Southwest, features an all-day showcase of art and entertainment, inspired by the state’s early inhabitants, including live musical performances by Ryan Dennison of Diné Nation, Byron Fenix of Native Voice One’s Soul Deluxe, California punk band Miracle Dolls, and local hip hop duo Shining Soul, as well as a film screening from Outta Your Backpack Media. Visitors will be able to purchase works from Arizona artists and food from Emerson Fry Bread food truck, and enjoy demos and tastings from Chef Harrison Watchman in the style of Diné, also known as the Navajo people. Native Now runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Deer Valley Petroglyph Preserve, 3711 West Deer Valley Road. Admission is free. Visit shesc.asu.edu/dvpp or call 623-582-8007.
