Hardcore World of Warcraft players creep us out. Most resemble Harry Knowles (of Ain’t It Cool News fame) and spend every waking moment immersed in the massively multiplayer online role-playing game. Personally, we prefer Kingdom of Loathing geeks. For the uninitiated, KoL is a lo-fi MMORPG utilizing stick figures and loads of whacked-out humor. To wit: this weekend’s Kingdom of Loathing Convention. The main event of the geek gathering is an all-day get-together starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 27, at Tempe Center for the Arts. That evening, the Clubhouse Music Venue, 1320 East Broadway in Tempe, hosts performances by nerdcore rappers MC Frontalot and MC Lars, as well as Minibosses and Totally Radd!!.
