Dubstep is seemingly inescapable these days. The bombastic, bass-heavy dance music genre has wormed its way into the playlists of club DJs everywhere, as well as the backing tracks of both pop stars, like Britney Spears and Katy Perry, and rock stars, including Five Finger Death Punch and Korn.
It’s also become a staple of underground parties, as turntable fiends enjoy unleashing the ear-shattering warbles and dark beats to the delight of ravers and dance music freaks. This weekend’s Neon Festival is no exception, as dubstep tastemakers Liquid Stranger and Helicopter Showdown headline the all-ages affair taking place on Friday, September 16. The District 8 Warehouse, 320 South 25th Street, will be filled with the thrum of dubstep and the illumination of glowsticks and neon paint during the event. Electronica all-star Mord Fustang and locals At Dawn We Rage and Daft Punk’d will also make appearances.
