The submission box is open for the 2013 Governor’s Arts Awards, which recognize creatives who have achieved and contributed to the Arizona arts community.

The awards, presented by Arizona Citizens for the Arts, the Arizona Commission on the Arts, and the Office of the Governor of Arizona, are given annually to artists, educators, business, communities, and individuals throughout the state.

One nominee in each category will be given an award during the celebration event, currently slated for March 6.

Past nominees include founding member of Arizona Latino Arts and Cultural Center Martin Moreno, ASU Art Museum’s former curator John Spiak,  co-founder of the Arizona Theatre Company Carol D. Whiteman, dance fiend Lisa Starry, the eye candy at the Bead Museum, artist Gregory Sale, the late local arts advocate Jane Reddin, and performance artist (and embroidery guru) Angela Ellsworth, to name a few.

Nominations can be made on the Governor’s Arts Awards website through December 14.
