We’ve never wanted to be fair-weather fans, but there comes a time when logic demands contingency plans. That’s why we’re suggesting that fading basketball followers of the Phoenix Suns begin to find another team to root for after the Suns’ nigh-inevitable first-round playoff exit.

Phoenix will host a team that purple-and-orange devotees may find themselves cheering for — the Denver Nuggets. That’s because Denver appears to be the only team in the Western Conference capable of taking down the Lakers. More importantly, the Nuggets play the sort of high-scoring basketball that Suns fans love. In fact, even if you can’t root for another team, you might enjoy tonight’s game simply because two of the league’s highest scoring teams will be going at it.
