Storytelling is having a moment. The craze for first-person tales and re-tellings has swept the nation – and Phoenix right along with it. The city’s home to quite a few series, with Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art’s Lit Lounge a perennial favorite. On Thursday, September 25, the banner series teams up with New Times to present Lit Lounge: The Best of Phoenix Edition at Crescent Ballroom.

Fittingly, the theme of the 2014 edition of Best of Phoenix is “Tales of the City.” And it’s no coincidence. With stories from bestselling author Laurie Notaro, SmoCA curator of performing arts Tania Katan, and New Times contributors Robrt L. Pela, Amy Silverman, and Katie Johnson, the evening’s sure to include some unforgettable tales of our fair city.

Showtime is 7 p.m. at 308 North Second Avenue. Tickets are $10 and available at www.crescentphx.com. Call 602-716-2222.

Thu., Sept. 25, 7 p.m., 2014
