Pantone Color Institute, the world-renowned authority on color, has announced the 2012 color of the year.
Let’s hear it for 17-1463, Tangerine Tango.
“The 2011 color of the year, PANTONE 18-2120 Honeysuckle, encouraged us to face everyday troubles with verve and vigor,” writes Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute. “Tangerine Tango, a spirited reddish orange, continues to provide the energy boost we need to recharge and move forward.”
Pantone makes the announcement every year and (literally) sets the tone for the year’s design color schemes from wall paint to bridesmaid dresses.
And if last year’s Honeysuckle was a color to ward off the blues and get the energy going, Tangerine Tango, is an extra shot.
“Sophisticated but at the same time dramatic and seductive, Tangerine Tango is an orange with a lot of depth to it,” writes Eiseman. “Reminiscent of the radiant shadings of a sunset, Tangerine Tango marries the vivaciousness and adrenaline rush of red with the friendliness and warmth of yellow, to form a high-visibility, magnetic hue that emanates heat and energy.”
Let the tango begin.
