It’s an awkward year for Phoenix Suns fans. Part of it is the organization’s staunch refusal to use the “R” word even while the team is in the midst of an obvious rebuilding year. What really makes things awkward for Suns fans, though, is that Steve Nash — arguably the most popular Phoenix Sun ever — is now playing for the Lakers. Most Suns fans would like to see Nash get a ring, which makes rooting against the Lakers less fun and leaves the Suns without an arch rival.
One team that may step in to fill that void is the Portland Trail Blazers, who will visit U.S. Airways Center, 201 East Jefferson Street, on Wednesday, November 21. The teams had some bad blood in the ’90s and, unlike the Lakers, Portland is bad enough that even the Suns should be able to compete with them.
