There was a time when a showdown with the Los Angeles Lakers sold itself. The Lakers were the premier team in the NBA for the better part of the last 40 years, while the Phoenix Suns have had to play the little brother role.

Now, the Lakers are a shell of their former selves — Kobe Bryant is old, Steve Nash is, essentially, retired, and no free agents seem to want to play there. This sucks some of the drama out of Monday’s showdown between the Suns and Lakers at Talking Stick Resort Arena, 201 East Jefferson Street, but Suns fans may just be happy to see the Lakers get some comeuppance.

The game tips off at 8 p.m. on January 19. Tickets start at $35 and are available through www.ticketmaster.com.
