Heads up, letterpress lovers. If you want to attend the first-ever Phoenix Wayzgoose, hosted by the Amalgamated Printers’ Association from June 5 through 9, your registration is due today.
Letterpress Central co-founder and local artist Cindy Iverson says that registrants can drop off their forms and payment ($25 to $75) at Letterpress Central in downtown Chandler, but forms that are postmarked May 23 will also be accepted.

Registrants can also sign up for the remaining spots in the Wayzgoose workshops, which take place on Wednesday, June 5, and Thursday, June 6. As of this writing “Wood Engraving & Letterpress Printing” ($145 to $175) and “Adventures in Polymer Pates” (free) have openings.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $15,500 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
Friday, June 7, promises lectures, discussions, and presentations, including Prescott-based letterpress printer Sky Shipley‘s “The Mysteries of Type Alignment” and Chicago printer Jennifer Farrell‘s “Printing for Profit with Handset Type.”
In case you blow by the deadline for registration or you’d rather get in on some free letterpress action, the swap meet and auction that take place Saturday, June 8, are free to attend and open to the public. Letterpress printers from around Arizona will set up tables and sell or auction off their printing goodies at the Radisson Hotel Chandler.
On Sunday, June 9, registrants can take a trip up to Prescott for an all-day open-house at Shipley’s Skyline Type Foundry (a.k.a. the Chapel of the Blessed Eutectic).
