An ability to play an instrument doesn’t mean you can bowl. Still, a bevy of local musicians will be doing just that at the fourth “somewhat annual” Phoenix Independents Bowl bowling tournament hosted by Psyko Steve Presents’ Steve Chilton, who created the event upon discovering how few local artists actually knew each other. “Bands may not sound the same, or have the same aesthetics, but they are all playing the same venues and care about their music,” he says of the event’s gestation. “Bowling has nothing to do with music and so it’s the perfect setting to bring everyone together.”  Teams of four will bowl two games each with top teams advancing to the championship rounds. Groovy trophies await victors.

Strike it big at the Phoenix Independents Bowl, at noon Sunday, June 22, at Let It Roll Bowl, 8925 North 12th Street. Entry is $80 per team. Visit www.phxindiebowl.com.
