Of all American popular sports, slow-paced, detail-oriented, and poetic baseball might be the most Shakespearean. The pastime collides with the storied scribe in Friendly People Productions’ Bardball and Other Plays, a trio of comedic shorts by Cindy Brown, Drew Derrix Templeton, and New Times contributor Julie Peterson.

On stage through Thursday, August 2, Brown’s Bardball finds a man attempting to use ol’ Will to to his advantage, Templeton’s The Baseball Connection places itself on an all-women’s team, and Peterson puts lovey-dovey performers and ‘ball nuts in one room for A Midsummer Night’s Cold Beverage.

Tuesdays-Thursdays, 12:10 p.m. Starts: July 24. Continues through Aug. 2, 2012
