Halloween is approaching fast, which means dads will be dressing themselves as bottles of Jack Daniels and their sons as packs of cigarettes, and ladies will be dressing up as sexy … anything.
It also means you’re bound to be faced with a ridiculous amount of options for how to spend your Halloween. Between neighborhood bars, house parties, and haunted houses, one can easily become overwhelmed trying to make the right decision on how to spend All Hallows’ Eve.
And the Prescott Film Festival is about to make your decision even more difficult.

The Prescott Film Festival in association with Yavapai College is bringing back the 1925 Universal Studios’ classic “The Phantom of the Opera” starring Lon Chaney.
Lon Chaney is best known for his characterizations of tragic and grotesque film characters such as “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” and “The Phantom of the Opera.” He was also recognized for his groundbreaking makeup artistry, which he created himself (no diva hours spent relaxing in a makeup chair barking orders while somebody else applied his makeup for many of his renowned roles).
The screening of the film will also include piano accompaniment, a staple of many silent films during that era, by Jonathan Best.
To honor the era of silent films, this incarnation of “The Phantom of the Opera” will be shown at Yavapai Performing Arts Center, 1100 E Sheldon Avenue in Prescott, on October 31 at 6:30 p.m.
