There’s only one thing to play for when you’re last place in your division, at the bottom of your conference, and have lost twice as many basketball games as you’ve won: pride. As of this writing, the Phoenix Suns are 17-36. Their Wednesday, March 6, opponents, the Toronto Raptors, are 21-32. Both are fifth place in their divisions. In terms of impact on the post-season, the game means absolutely nothing. But, in terms of pride, it’s everything. A win here shows that you still care enough to play your hardest, even when the results don’t matter, and at least you can hold your own against a squad equally as abysmal. A win here gets you thinking, “Well, we may be terrible, but at least we’re better than Charlotte.”
