$10,000

In the past few years, street art in Phoenix – whether legal, commissioned murals or surreptitiously spray-painted burners – has finally gotten the recognition it deserves as an urban art form.

Among the artists in the city, local graffiti king DOSE might be the most respected. It’s not uncommon to stumble upon a vibrant DOSE piece while touring central Phoenix, either on the streets or on gallery walls.

Ongoing collaborations with Hector Ruiz have helped raise the profile of the graf artist’s indoor work. His latest solo show, “Against the Grain,” highlights DOSE’s eye for bold colors and crashing patterns that are as vivid on canvas as they are in the urban wild.

Tuesdays-Saturdays. Starts: March 1. Continues through March 31, 2011
