It’s fair to say that Saturday Night Live has totally sucked over the past few years, that is unless you’re an Andy Samberg fan. Back in Kevin Nealon’s day, an SNL cast member would have to tell some serious jokes if they wanted to be recognized.
Recurring character Mr. Subliminal was just the ticket for Nealon’s rising comedic star. An enunciated fast talker by nature, Nealon would insert quips about his castmates, pop culture, and celebrities into insults that were hurled so fast that viewers could barely keep up.
We’re pretty sure Nealon is still rockin’ that subliminal thing. Just look at his post-SNL body of work, which includes roles in Weeds, Grandma’s Boy, Joe Dirt, and The Wedding Singer.
This weekend, he’ll show up at Tempe Improv to spread a little holiday cheer.
