You might rush out to buy the latest BluRay-playing teleportation DVR pizza maker and turn up your snout at the grainy visuals of a clunky VHS tape. But the creative crew Everything Is Terrible! have trained their noses to sniff out the finest (read: cheesiest, silliest, and weirdest) videotapes that secondhand shops have to offer.
The analog aficionados — whose set of four commandments includes the assertion that one must “remain faithful to the VHS, for it is the One True Format” — splice together films from their favorite found clips. And this spring they present DoggieWoggiez! PoochieWoochies!, an off-the-leash, canine-starring remake of Alejandro Jodorowsky’s already trippy, LSD- and ‘shroom-fueled 1973 flick The Holy Mountain.
