In the desert we’re accustomed to prickly plants and crooked cacti, but less than four hours from Phoenix you’ll also find a billowing sea of gray, green, and purple. At Red Rock Ranch and Farms in Concho, it’s lavender fields forever, with more than 45,000 lavender plants of a dozen different varieties.
On Thursday, June 20, the annual Arizona Lavender Festival kicks off and runs through Sunday, June 30. Attendees can catch field tours, cooking demonstrations, and more. Cut your own bundle of lavender and plan to catch one of the special events, including such highlights as lavender wreath- and candle-making lessons.
Admission costs $5 per person, and ticket packages including entrance and lunch are available to pre-order for $20 each. Red Rock Ranch and Farms, HC 65 Box 35201, is open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information call 928-337-2289 or visit www.redrockfarms.com.
Thursdays-Sundays, 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Starts: June 20. Continues through June 30, 2013
