We like to think of ourselves as snarky writers here in the Night & Day section, but this writer is having a little difficulty taking that approach with this piece. Even at the highest height of this section’s hilarity, we don’t hold a candle to the comic genius of Kathy Griffin. The loud-mouthed ginger has a lightning-fast wit that’s propelled her from a self-proclaimed “D List” to a two-time Emmy Award winner, New York Times best-selling author, and Grammy nominee. With five seasons of her reality TV show Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D List under her belt, we’ve watched every self-deprecating wisecrack as she scrambled her way through hellacious comedy tours, a ballsy trip to war-torn Iraq, a brutal divorce, and an inspiring bounce back.
