When artist Richard Lee realized that Rembrandt completed many of his famous sketches in seconds, Lee decided to challenge old Chronos to a duel. His goal? Complete 100 individual art pieces, taking no longer than 60 minutes each, in exactly one year. The results are on display in the four-room “Richard Lee: A Period of Time” exhibit at Lords of Art Town Studio and Gallery. Despite finishing only 65 drawings, Lee considers the experiment a success. “Because time ran out, there were some things that did not come to fruition,” he admits. “However, it was the many failures that inspire me to go on.”
