Confession time: The Wizard was one of our favorite movies while growing up. There’s something about the kitschy 1989 flick about a grand video game competition, which was essentially a 90-minute commercial for Nintendo, that kept us captivated as kids.
We’d recommend the film to those hoping to reign supreme during Cade Gallery’s Galaga tournament on Friday, September 9. While there might not be any pint-sized joystick Jedi who were traumatized by the death of their twin sisters participating in the competition, you might pick up some tips for surviving the fast-paced gaming tournament.
Participants will engage in a battle of man versus machine while playing the 1981 arcade classic. The highest scores will nab you prizes like gift cards, tee shirts, and ice cream.
