Something about summertime and reading just gels. Maybe it’s the longer days or the beckoning hammocks. Either way, books and warm weather make a great pair.

As if you needed another excuse to head to the library (you know they have free books there, right? Also air conditioning), artists Roy Wasson Valle and Koryn Woodward Wasson built an interactive art installation, called “Camp Dreamtree,” at Scottsdale Civic Center Library, 3839 North Drinkwater Boulevard. It’s a colorful, interactive, and artistic take on summer camp, complete with three-dimensional tents, trees, and foliage – a downright scenic spot for getting lost in a novel.

Much like actual camp, the installation is temporary, closing on Thursday, July 31. Admission is free. Hours on Friday, June 6, are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information, visit www.scottsdalepublicart.org or call the library at 480-312-7323.

Mondays-Thursdays, 9 a.m.-9 p.m.; Fridays, Saturdays, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.; Sundays, 1-5 p.m. Starts: May 19. Continues through July 31, 2014
