When a former participant recently revealed that HGTV’s hit series House Hunters is a set-up, some viewers went ballistic. Reality check, folks: If you actually believe that shows like The Hills and Pawn Stars are fully unscripted, your IQ might be on par with Chumlee’s.

There will be no confusion over what’s real and what’s scripted when local sketch comedy troupe Bully Mammoth takes the stage for Choose Your Poison on Saturday, June 30. Led by co-founders Ryan Gaumont and Ricky Brindley, the troupe will perform pre-written skits à la Saturday Night Live.

But unlike the famed late-night weekend show, Bully Mammoth avoids skewering political figures or events whose notoriety might be short-lived. “Instead of Mitt Romney and Obama, we’re more likely to do something with bath-salt zombies this month,” quips Gaumont. “We like to reflect society through its goofy side [and] we focus on things that have a longer shelf-life.”
