Mark our words: Sooner than later, Arizona Cardinals starting quarterback Kurt Warner will go down on his 38-year-old hiney, and he won’t get up. So while it seems strange to classify the Redbirds’ first contest of the season following a scintillating Super Bowl run as a must-win, their game against the San Francisco 49ers approaches that for those who take the long view.
The Cards’ home (and regular-season) opener comes not only against an improving NFC West foe, but versus the only one with the rough goods to challenge the Birds for the division title and its automatic playoff berth – certainly if Warner were to give way to that stubbly question mark named Matt Leinart at some point.
Horros.
