When asked about her thoughts on the timely, tricky topic of the scarcity of women in comedy often and famously addressed by funny ladies including Tina Fey and Joan Rivers), stand-up Paula Poundstone shrugged it off saying that when she got bad feedback early on in her career it was because she was still developing her persona and material. Becoming a notable comedian was less a competition of male versus female, and, for Poundstone, more about battling herself to achieve a funnier, more memorable set.

The Wait Wait… Don’t Tell Me! regular brings her quick wit and penchant for playing off an audience to the Piper Repertory Theater at Mesa Arts Center.
