The saying “art imitates life” is certainly true when it comes to adventure novelist Clive Cussler’s Dirk Pitt novels. Both Cussler and his fictional hero have unearthed amazing shipwrecks. They also share military experience, aircraft knowledge, and a collection of kick-ass hot rods that would make James Bond green with envy.

Get an eyeful of sweet curves and tight chassis (and no, we’re not talking about Pitt’s latest love interests) when Cussler signs his latest book Built for Adventure at The Poisoned Pen. The new tome is loaded with details on autos from Cussler’s personal collection, including a Cadillac V-16 Roadster and a slick Mercedes-Benz 630K.

The free event jump starts with a classic car display outside the bookstore at 6 p.m.

Thu., Oct. 27, 7 p.m., 2011
