Reader support matters more than ever
We're in the final stretch of our summer campaign. Our goal is to raise $15,000 by August 9 to support the journalism our community relies on. Reader support is helping shape the future of local news.
Just like the people who partake in them, not all triathlons are built alike. There is, of course, the Ironman — the 140-mile showcase of endurance and masochism that takes over Tempe every fall. But triathlons of different lengths are also available for the less self-punishing.
Held at Tempe Beach Park, the second annual Marquee Triathlon offers a triathlon trio, complete with Sprint (750-meter swim, 12.4-mile bike, 3.1-mile run), Olympic (1500-meter swim, 25-mile bike, 6.2-mile run) and Half Iron (1.2-mile swim, 56-mile bike, 13.1-mile run) distance events. Choose a race based on your skill level — or however much you feel like hurting the next day.
