One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local,
international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s —
what’s yours?

We first ran into Eric Torres, a local designer and illustrator at TEDxPhoenix, an idea and speaking series in October.

He’s since been working on his ever-evolving project, Rynaga. The illustrated world is narrated with stories written and drawn by Torres, who also creates games and books that go along with his concept.

The characters are complex and, according to Torres, are meant to remind readers of people they know (the adventurous traveler, the quiet contemplator, the troubled romantic, etc.) while still existing in a fantastic realm.

Torres says he grew up reading Homer, Lewis Carrol, Tennyson and Tolkien and always wanted to be creative while telling stories. Luckily Rynaga lets him do both.

Check out more about Rynaga on Torres’ blog, which also has updates on his plans for the upcoming 2011 Phoenix Comicon.
