Keep Phoenix New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $10,000 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
We like to believe that every crafter, seamstress, and sharp shootin’ glue gunner in town has been to SAS at least once. If you haven’t, well, get with the program and be sure to keep it in mind for your next project.
The store on 11th Street and Indian School Road has been in operation for 40 years (the same owners also run a location in Tempe). And, yes, they literally sell some of their fabrics by the pound. If it’s not sold by the pound, it’s practically sold by the penny — the prices are ridiculously reasonable.
Every visit is an adventure as the bargain bin, warehouse-style
fabric and notions store consistently has something new to offer. This time around, we got lost in the bolts of bright fabric,
buckets of buttons, spools of ribbon, and piles of beaded fringe. And,
of course, we just had to snap some photos for a slideshow.
Go to SAS Fabric by the Pound at 1111 East Indian School Road, 602-279-2171 or at 1700 East Apache Boulevard in Tempe,
