One new idea for every day in 2011. We’re talking big, small, local, international, in action and on the drawing board. Here’s today’s — what’s yours?

Sebastian Bettencourt‘s newspaper of the future may have the look and feel of a traditional physical news publication — it still has sections for local, international, sports, business stories, and more — just don’t expect it to smell like one.

The California-based designer calls his design Beyond the Fold and describes it as a “speculative approach to the electronic newspaper of the future. It explores gesture as a means to interface with the device and bridge the digital and physical worlds. The design process employs cultural metaphors, human experience and rituals to create meaningful interactions.”

Will you step up to support New Times this year?

We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.

$30,000

While his “paper” is still in the design phase, you can check out a digital demonstration in the video above, and see more info on his website
