There’s something about nature that causes us to become self-reflective. Whether it’s the feeling of being so small in the midst of ancient natural creations or the sometimes-unsettling quiet that comes in the middle of a landscape, we don’t know, but we find ourselves looking within. Steven J. Yazzie uses hiking Sis’ najinni, a sacred Navajo mountain in Colorado, to explore this introspective world in his 2013 film, Looking For Tsosido. The film is part of a one-night video installation showcasing Arizona as “an immersive environment” from the Museum of Walking, Yazzie and Angela Ellsworth’s creative residency at the Livery Studio Space, 3802 North Brown Avenue in Scottsdale, on Thursday, December 18, from 7 to 9 p.m. For more information about the free event, visit www.scottsdalepublicart.org.

Thu., Dec. 18, 7-9 p.m., 2014
