What did an animal ever do to you? Were you mugged by a cow or raped by a rabbit? Did some veal slap your mother? Perhaps a turkey took your parking spot?
For those without a Thanksgiving-bird beef, celebrate at Green with the third annual ThanksLIVING. Chef Damon Brasch will create a bountiful buffet of culinary delights without any animal protein (he’s got the recipes to prove it) that will include savory seitan turkey breast with vegan giblet gravy, cranberry and walnut stuffing, roasted garlic mashed potatoes, sweet corn with smoked paprika, brown “butter” asparagus and brussels sprout, salad, artisan breads, pecan and pumpkin pies, and berry cobbler. Compassionate vegans, vegetarians, and omnivores are expected to be caught dining and relaxing while someone else cleans the dishes, all while live bands and DJs, Tracy Dove’s art exhibit, Farm Sanctuary’s turkey adoption, a blanket and towel drive, and a welcome speech by Humane Society senior director Paul Shapiro goes off.
