Although the internet is useful in helping new artists generate buzz and connecting art aficionados with their favorite artists, Lisa Sette doubts that brick-and-mortar galleries are going away anytime soon. “I believe strongly that art remains experiential; that you need to see it in the flesh to fully appreciate it,” she says. “Galleries will be around as long as artists and collectors need them.”
Sette ought to know. She’s celebrating a quarter century as a Scottsdale gallery owner at the Lisa Sette “25th Anniversary Show.” The group exhibit features recent works from artists whose past creations have graced her gallery in the years since she first opened to the public in 1986, including Enrique Chagoya, Jessica Joslin, Mayme Kratz, Angela Ellsworth, and William Wegman.
Tuesdays-Saturdays; Sat., March 12, 12-5 p.m. Starts: March 3. Continues through April 2, 2011
