Tim Tate and Marc Petrovic deal in glass. The two artists come from different backgrounds – Tate blends new media with blown, slumped, and cast glass; Petrovic’s made a name for himself with blown and sculpted glass pieces that seem to defy physics.
Together, the artists present “Glass Secessionism” – a showcase of individual work as well as a collaborative effort titled The Seven Deadly Sins. Here, the two artists look at greed, lust, envy, and sloth with ancient and contemporary techniques. Each vice is captured and displayed as a specimen under large glass domes with clever commentary and metaphor conveyed through found objects, tiny video screens, and cast glass.
