“The things you own end up owning you,” as spouted by Fight Club’s Tyler Durden (portrayed by Brad Pitt), speaks to the dangers of consumerism infiltrating our identities. Those things that we actually let go of and discard may be just as rife with hints as to who we are.
Rachel Woodburn weaves the lingering stories embodied within found objects with her experiences to create three-dimensional sculptures, many of which are part of her latest “Beyond Measure” exhibition. Woodburn’s penchant for wrestling with ghosts also extends to her work that uses digital media in storytelling and her journey into historic and alternative photographic processes, some of which will be on display as well.
