For thousands of years humankind has embraced the art of combining yeast and the finest grapes to create the nectar of the gods. This concoction has traveled the world — from the upper tiers of society all the way down to Strawberry Hill. Even Arizona has a stake in vino, thanks to Maynard James Keenan.

You don’t have to travel the world (or head to Jerome) to get a taste of grape-y goodness this weekend. Simply hop on the Light Rail to hit up all the stops on this year’s Urban Wine Walk from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, April 20. With 18 restaurants offering up deals on drinks and snacks, samplers can choose their own adventures and make their way to all or some of the stops, which were chosen based on their proximity to the train.

The first 300 patrons who visit Tom’s Tavern and 1929 Grill will receive a commemorative glass to fill at each stop.

Sat., April 20, 1-6 p.m., 2013
