Since 1990, when he joined the cast of Saturday Night Live, David Spade has lent his trademark snark to movies and TV, bringing us characters like the sarcastic Hollywood Minute Reporter (“Look kids, a falling star! Make a wish!”), sarcastic secretary (“And you are…?”), and sarcastic flight attendant (“Buh-bye!”). In Tommy Boy and Black Sheep he was the sarcastic yin to Chris Farley’s goofy yang; in Rules of Engagement he plays a (usually) single, sarcastic flirt. Dude has his niche.
Now the diminutive star returns to his roots, in more ways than one — Spade grew up in Scottsdale, attending Saguaro High School and Arizona State University, and began his career performing in clubs and theaters across the country.
