The Martha Stewart American Made Awards recognize makers across the country who create innovative and beautiful products. And this year, a few of the Valley’s top creators have been recognized as finalists.

Samantha Irwin and Andrew King’s Chandler-based Standard Wax and Sebastian Sandersius’ Phoenix-based Bison Made were named finalists in the competition’s craft and style categories, respectively. Other categories in the competition, which features up to 1,000 finalists, include food and design.

Standard Wax blends ceramic work by King with Irwin’s candlemaking to create distinct home decor pieces in scents such as sage and pomegranate and “forest floor” with notes of moss and soil. The company encourages customers to reuse the ceramic elements of its candle holders, some of which look like glazed tree stumps, once the wax has melted away.

Bison Made is a line of leather goods and mens accessories, known for its simply and sturdily crafted wallets that are designed to last a lifetime. The handmade line also includes leather razor strops, bracelets, and razor cases.

From the pool of finalists, 10 winners will be awarded $10,000, a trip to New York to attend the American Made event, the opportunity to be featured in Martha Stewart Living, and more. Nine of those will be determined by the American Made panel of judges and one will be determined by votes from the public.

You can vote up to six times a day through Monday, October, 13 at www.marthastewart.com/americanmade.
