Smoke and Feathers, the Austin, Texas, psychedelic rock band that are recording with Chris “Frenchie” Smith, recently plowed through Tempe in August. During that gig, we chewed a couple brownies, gave them a careful listen, and decided that anyone who caught them at the Sail Inn definitely wants to know about their return to downtown Phoenix. Playing turgid stoner rock with enough breaks, bitch-slapping solos, and changes to keep you from languishing in dreamland for too long, they’ll probably blow out the tiny record store’s windows.
Openers are metal-core band Tintype and the ambient and upbeat Underground Cities, who are promoting their recent release The Dalliance Album. Normally a Movie Monday, some folks may show up for Escape From New York, but we think headbanger Snake Plissken will understand.
