In Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World, the characters and the reader are faced with some pretty big, existential questions. What makes us humans human? Is happiness as simple as a mix of chemicals that can be easily popped in pill-form? Is the secret to a perfect world simply determining people’s roles in society before they’re born? We’re not sure if the talented local storytellers participating in Storyline: Brave New World will be answering these questions, but we’re sure they’ll be spinning yarn just as entertaining and thought-provoking. As a more structured, polished response to Lawn Gnome Publishing’s popular, weekly Yarnball, Dan Hull created the once-a-month storytelling series Storyline last year. Storyline: Brave New World marks the first event of 2015 on Friday, January 16, at 10:30 p.m. at Space 55, 636 East Pierce Street. Tickets at $5 and can be purchased at the door.
